Professor Urology

Job Summary:

The Professor of Urology is a senior academic and clinical leader responsible for advancing the department’s goals in patient care, education, and research. This position involves high-level teaching, leading clinical services, conducting and overseeing research initiatives, and playing a key role in shaping the academic and clinical direction of the urology department. The Professor will serve as a mentor to junior faculty, residents, fellows, and medical students and will help drive the department’s growth and innovation.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Leadership and Care:
    • Lead and supervise clinical services for urological patients, ensuring delivery of the highest quality care across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
    • Perform complex and advanced urological surgeries, including robotic and minimally invasive procedures.
    • Oversee and manage the care of patients undergoing urological procedures, providing guidance to junior faculty and residents.
    • Take a lead role in developing and implementing clinical guidelines and treatment protocols in urology.
    • Ensure timely follow-up, consultation, and ongoing management for patients with urological conditions.
  2. Teaching and Academic Leadership:
    • Lead and coordinate the urology curriculum for medical students, residents, and fellows, ensuring it aligns with current practices and emerging trends in the field.
    • Deliver lectures, seminars, and hands-on clinical training to students, residents, and fellows.
    • Supervise and mentor residents and fellows, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills, competencies, and knowledge in urology.
    • Assess student and resident performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance on clinical and academic progress.
    • Participate actively in departmental teaching committees, curriculum development, and accreditation processes.
  3. Research and Scholarship:
    • Lead cutting-edge research in urology, contributing to innovations in clinical practice, surgical techniques, and urological science.
    • Secure significant research funding from national and international sources.
    • Supervise and support the research activities of residents, fellows, and junior faculty, fostering a productive academic environment.
    • Publish original research in prestigious peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
    • Establish and maintain collaborative research partnerships with academic, clinical, and industry organizations.
  4. Departmental and Institutional Leadership:
    • Provide leadership within the department, helping to shape the vision, direction, and strategy for urology education, clinical care, and research.
    • Serve on institutional committees related to clinical care, research, curriculum development, and policy-making.
    • Contribute to departmental accreditation, ensuring compliance with national and international standards for medical education and clinical care.
    • Promote a culture of academic excellence, professionalism, and innovation within the department.
  5. Professional Development and Networking:
    • Stay at the forefront of advancements in urology by attending relevant national and international conferences, workshops, and symposia.
    • Contribute to national and international urology organizations, taking leadership roles where appropriate.
    • Provide expert opinions, consultations, and lectures to external medical organizations, hospitals, and community programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Qualifications:
    • MBBS + MCh/DNB in Urology
    • MCh/DNB in Urology (or equivalent qualification) from a recognized institution.
  • Experience:
    • At least 10 years of clinical and academic experience in urology, including significant time spent in a leadership or senior faculty role.
    • Proven track record in high-level clinical practice, including advanced urological surgeries (e.g., robotic, laparoscopic).
    • Significant research experience, with a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
    • Experience in teaching, mentoring, and academic leadership, particularly with residents, fellows, and junior faculty.
