Associate Professor Anatomy

Job Summary:

The Associate Professor of Anatomy is responsible for leading academic and clinical education in the anatomy department, conducting advanced research, mentoring junior faculty and students, and contributing to curriculum development. This role requires a strong background in teaching, research, and clinical applications of anatomy, as well as the ability to provide leadership in educational innovation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching & Education:
    • Deliver high-quality lectures and practical sessions in gross anatomy, histology, embryology, neuroanatomy, and other specialized areas of anatomy for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
    • Supervise and guide medical students, residents, and postgraduates in their academic journey, including practical dissections, cadaveric studies, and case-based learning.
    • Develop and update course syllabi, lecture materials, assessments, and learning resources.
    • Lead workshops, seminars, and small-group teaching sessions in advanced anatomical concepts.
  • Research:
    • Conduct and lead original research in the field of anatomy, with a focus on innovation and advancements in anatomical science, surgical anatomy, or medical education.
    • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.
    • Seek funding opportunities for research projects and manage research grants.
    • Supervise and mentor postgraduate students and research fellows in their research activities.
  • Curriculum Development:
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of the anatomy curriculum, ensuring it meets national and international standards.
    • Engage in curriculum planning, course design, and innovative educational strategies.
    • Integrate modern teaching technologies (e.g., virtual dissections, digital resources) into the anatomy program.
  • Clinical Support:
    • Provide anatomical expertise in clinical teaching, including assisting with surgical training and clinical applications of anatomy.
    • Collaborate with medical and surgical departments to integrate anatomical knowledge into clinical practice.
  • Supervision & Mentorship:
    • Provide mentorship to junior faculty members, residents, and students, guiding them in both academic and professional development.
    • Conduct regular evaluations of faculty, staff, and students, providing constructive feedback and fostering a supportive academic environment.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Participate in departmental administration, including meetings, planning, and decision-making processes.
    • Contribute to academic and administrative committees within the institution.
    • Ensure the proper management and maintenance of anatomical teaching resources, such as cadaveric specimens, anatomical models, and laboratory equipment.
    • Help manage the department’s budget and resources effectively.
  • Professional Development:
    • Engage in continuous professional development, keeping abreast of the latest advancements in anatomical research, teaching methodologies, and clinical practices.
    • Attend academic conferences, workshops, and seminars related to anatomy and medical education.
    • Foster relationships with other academic institutions and research centers to facilitate collaborative efforts and knowledge exchange.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • MBBS + MS/MD in Anatomy or a related field from a recognized institution.
    • Additional qualifications in medical education or leadership are highly desirable.
