Job Summary:
The Senior Resident in Urology will be responsible for assisting in the clinical management of urological patients, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and contributing to academic activities within the department. This role requires in-depth knowledge of urology, experience in surgical procedures, and the ability to manage both inpatient and outpatient care effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Responsibilities:
- Manage patients in the outpatient and inpatient settings under the supervision of senior consultants.
- Take detailed patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and interpret diagnostic results.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including patient counseling.
- Assist in the management of common urological emergencies (e.g., renal colic, trauma).
- Participate in daily ward rounds and case discussions.
- Surgical Responsibilities:
- Assist in urological surgeries, including minimally invasive and open procedures.
- Perform urological surgeries under supervision, including cystoscopy, prostatectomy, nephrectomy, and other urological procedures.
- Be involved in post-operative management, including monitoring recovery and managing complications.
- Educational and Academic Activities:
- Participate in departmental teaching sessions, including case discussions, journal clubs, and presentations.
- Engage in ongoing research and contribute to clinical studies or quality improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior residents and medical students in clinical skills, patient care, and procedural techniques.
- Patient Management:
- Develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients with urological conditions.
- Ensure continuity of care and follow-up for patients undergoing urological treatments and surgeries.
- Provide counseling and education to patients regarding their conditions, treatment options, and preventive care.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories, diagnostic results, and treatment plans.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Required Qualifications:
- Educational Qualifications:
- MBBS + MCh/DNB in Urology
- MS/DNB in General Surgery or MCh/DNB in Urology (or in the final year of MCh/DNB Urology training).
- Experience:
- At least 2-3 years of experience as a Junior Resident or equivalent in Urology.
- Demonstrated experience in urological procedures, both diagnostic and therapeutic.
