Job Summary:
The Senior Resident in Anatomy is responsible for teaching medical students, conducting practical dissections and demonstrations, and providing administrative support for the anatomy department. This position is critical in mentoring junior residents and assisting faculty in ensuring high standards of education and research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching & Education:
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical demonstrations in gross anatomy, histology, embryology, and neuroanatomy to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Supervise and guide students during practical dissections and assist in cadaver preservation.
- Create and update teaching material, presentations, and handouts.
- Conduct anatomy practical examinations, quizzes, and assessments.
- Research:
- Participate in academic research in the field of anatomy.
- Contribute to publishing research papers, case studies, and scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
- Assist in conducting and organizing research projects within the department.
- Clinical Support:
- Provide clinical anatomy support to medical professionals, especially in surgical anatomy.
- Coordinate with other departments to support cross-disciplinary learning (e.g., in pathology or surgery).
- Supervision & Mentorship:
- Mentor junior residents, interns, and medical students in their studies and research.
- Provide feedback and evaluation to students and staff.
- Help in the day-to-day management and smooth operation of the department’s activities.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain records of student assessments, attendance, and progress.
- Assist in curriculum development and departmental planning.
- Handle departmental inventory and ensure proper maintenance of anatomical models, cadavers, and laboratory resources.
- Professional Development:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in anatomical sciences and medical education.
- Attend academic conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Engage in continued professional education to enhance teaching and research skills.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- MBBS + MS/MD in Anatomy or equivalent postgraduate degree in Anatomy from a recognized institution.
- Additional qualifications in medical education or research are a plus.
