Professor Pharmacology

Job Summary:

The Professor of Pharmacology serves as a senior faculty member responsible for teaching, research, and academic leadership in the field of pharmacology. The role involves developing and delivering curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate students, leading research initiatives, mentoring junior faculty, and contributing to institutional growth and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities:

Academic Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions for MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, and postgraduate students (MD Pharmacology, if applicable).
  • Design and update pharmacology curricula in line with NMC and university regulations.
  • Supervise dissertation work, student research projects, and academic presentations.
  • Evaluate student performance through theory exams, viva, and internal assessments.
  • Organize academic activities like journal clubs, seminars, and faculty development programs.

Research Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and supervise original research in experimental, clinical, or translational pharmacology.
  • Publish research papers in indexed national and international journals.
  • Secure research grants and engage in collaborative research.
  • Guide junior faculty and postgraduate students in research methodology and publication.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Participate in departmental planning, faculty recruitment, and academic audits.
  • Assist in preparation of teaching schedules, lab management, and examination coordination.
  • Serve as a member of institutional and regulatory committees (e.g., Ethics Committee, Research Committee).
  • Ensure implementation of NMC guidelines and maintenance of academic records.

Clinical and Applied Responsibilities (if applicable):

  • Coordinate clinical pharmacology activities such as ADR monitoring, therapeutic drug monitoring, and drug utilization studies.
  • Provide support to hospital pharmacy committees or pharmacovigilance programs.
  • Collaborate with clinical departments to conduct drug trials or rational drug use training.

Qualifications:

  • MBBS with MD in Pharmacology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of total teaching experience in Pharmacology, including at least 4 years as Associate Professor (as per NMC/UGC norms).
  • Valid registration with NMC / Medical Council of India and relevant state medical council (if MBBS-qualified).
