Professor Ophthalmology

Job Summary:

The Professor of Ophthalmology will serve as a leader in education, clinical practice, and research within the Department of Ophthalmology. This position is pivotal in mentoring faculty and trainees, advancing the field through innovative research, and providing expert clinical care in ophthalmology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teaching and Mentorship:
  • Develop and deliver advanced educational programs for medical students, residents, and fellows in ophthalmology.
  • Mentor and supervise residents, fellows, and junior faculty in clinical practice, research, and professional development.
  • Evaluate and enhance the curriculum to maintain high educational standards and foster a collaborative learning environment.
• Clinical Practice:
  • Provide expert care in ophthalmology, including comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis, and management of ocular diseases.
  • Perform complex surgical procedures and oversee postoperative care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient management and improve clinical outcomes.
• Research and Scholarship:
  • Lead and engage in innovative research initiatives in ophthalmology, focusing on clinical outcomes, surgical techniques, and advancements in vision care.
  • Publish research findings in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • Seek external funding and grants to support research activities and initiatives.
• Leadership and Service:
  • Actively participate in departmental governance, contributing to strategic planning and policy development.
  • Engage in professional organizations and community outreach to promote eye health and education.
  • Foster collaborations with other departments and institutions to enhance interdisciplinary research and clinical care.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Medical degree (MBBS + MS/MD) with completion of a residency in ophthalmology.
  • Fellowship training in a subspecialty of ophthalmology is highly desirable.
