Job Summary:
The Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBG) will be responsible for teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in the field of obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive medicine, and related subspecialties. This role combines teaching, clinical work, and research, with a focus on advancing the knowledge, skills, and clinical practices in women’s healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Education:
- Develop and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and practical sessions on obstetrics and gynecology topics.
- Supervise medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical rotations and hands-on training in obstetrics and gynecology.
- Mentor students, residents, and junior faculty in research projects, clinical skills, and career development.
- Participate in curriculum development and assessment to ensure it meets educational standards and incorporates the latest advancements in the field.
- Organize and lead educational conferences, workshops, and seminars to foster a dynamic learning environment.
Clinical Duties:
- Provide high-quality patient care in the field of obstetrics and gynecology at affiliated hospitals or clinics.
- Conduct routine and specialized medical procedures in obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive medicine.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams to manage complex obstetric and gynecological cases.
- Stay current with new medical technologies, treatments, and protocols to improve patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with medical ethical standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements in clinical settings.
Research and Scholarship:
- Lead and contribute to original research projects related to women’s health, obstetrics, gynecology, and related areas.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present them at national and international conferences.
- Seek funding opportunities through grants and collaborations to support research initiatives.
- Supervise and guide residents, fellows, and medical students in their research endeavors.
- Contribute to the academic community through involvement in scholarly activities and collaboration with other institutions.
Administrative and Leadership Responsibilities:
- Participate in departmental committees, including those focused on academic affairs, curriculum planning, and faculty development.
- Assist in the recruitment and training of new faculty members and residents.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive working environment within the department and university.
- Represent the department at meetings, conferences, and other professional events.
- Participate in accreditation activities and ensure compliance with educational and healthcare standards.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Medical degree (MBBS + MS/MD or equivalent) and board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Completion of a fellowship in a specialized area of OBG is preferred (e.g., maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology).
