Position Summary:
Seeking a distinguished and accomplished physician-scientist or clinician-educator for the position of Professor of Nephrology. The successful candidate will play a leadership role within the Division of Nephrology, contributing to clinical excellence, research innovation, medical education, and academic mentorship. This position offers an opportunity to shape the future of nephrology through research, program development, and thought leadership in kidney care.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provide expert care in all aspects of nephrology, including chronic kidney disease (CKD), dialysis, glomerular diseases, and/or transplant nephrology
- Lead complex case management and multidisciplinary care coordination
- Serve as a consultant for challenging nephrology cases at the institutional level
Academic and Educational Responsibilities:
- Mentor junior faculty, fellows, residents, and students in clinical practice and scholarly activities
- Deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and clinical instruction
- Participate in curriculum development for undergraduate and graduate medical education
- Lead academic conferences, journal clubs, and case discussions
Research Responsibilities:
- Conduct and publish high-impact clinical, translational, or basic science research
- Secure extramural funding through grants and collaborative research initiatives
- Lead or co-lead research teams or centers in nephrology or kidney-related diseases
Leadership and Administration:
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Division of Nephrology
- Serve on departmental or institutional committees
- Foster interdepartmental collaboration and promote academic excellence
- Participate in faculty recruitment and development
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD, DO, or equivalent international medical degree
- Board certification in Nephrology
- Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in [State/Country]
- Minimum of 10 years of post-fellowship experience in academic nephrology
- Strong record of peer-reviewed publications, research funding, and teaching excellence
- Recognized leadership in the field of nephrology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Track record of NIH or comparable research funding
- Experience in leading academic programs or clinical units
- Expertise in transplant, glomerular diseases, or interventional nephrology
- International recognition in nephrology (e.g., invited lectures, professional society leadership)
