Professor General Surgery

Job Summary:

The Professor of General Surgery will serve as a leader in education, clinical practice, and research within the Department of General Surgery. This role involves mentoring faculty and trainees, advancing the field through innovative research, and providing expert surgical care to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teaching and Mentorship:
  • Develop and deliver advanced educational programs for medical students, residents, and fellows in general surgery.
  • Mentor and supervise residents, fellows, and junior faculty in clinical practice, research, and professional development.
  • Evaluate and enhance the curriculum to ensure high educational standards and foster a collaborative learning environment.
• Clinical Practice:
  • Provide expert diagnostic and therapeutic services for a wide range of surgical conditions.
  • Lead surgical teams in inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate comprehensive patient management and improve clinical outcomes.
• Research and Scholarship:
  • Lead and engage in innovative research initiatives in general surgery, focusing on clinical outcomes, surgical techniques, and advancements in patient care.
  • Publish research findings in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • Seek external funding and grants to support research activities and initiatives.
• Leadership and Service:
  • Actively participate in departmental governance, contributing to strategic planning and policy development.
  • Engage in professional organizations and community outreach to promote general surgery education and public health.
  • Foster collaborations with other departments and institutions to enhance interdisciplinary research and clinical care.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Medical degree (MBBS + MS/MD) with completion of a residency in general surgery.
  • Fellowship training in a subspecialty of general surgery is highly desirable.
