Professor Anatomy

Job Summary:

The Professor of Anatomy is a senior academic leader responsible for overseeing teaching, research, and departmental administration. This role includes guiding faculty and students, developing the curriculum, leading advanced research projects, and ensuring compliance with educational standards and regulatory bodies.


Key Responsibilities:

Academic Leadership:

  • Provide expert teaching and mentorship in gross anatomy, histology, embryology, and neuroanatomy to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Lead curriculum planning, review, and implementation in alignment with university and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and evaluate postgraduate theses, dissertations, and research projects.
  • Promote innovative teaching methods, including digital tools and simulation technology.
  • Organize and conduct academic forums such as seminars, workshops, and faculty development programs.

Research & Scholarly Work:

  • Lead original research initiatives in anatomy or related interdisciplinary fields.
  • Publish extensively in indexed national and international journals.
  • Secure research funding and foster collaborations with other academic and clinical departments.
  • Guide faculty and postgraduate students in research methodology, grant writing, and publication.

Administrative and Departmental Management:

  • Manage departmental activities, including faculty recruitment, performance appraisals, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure adherence to institutional policies and national regulatory norms (e.g., NMC, NAAC).
  • Coordinate academic audits, inspections, and accreditation processes.
  • Represent the department in institutional and external academic committees.

Laboratory and Facility Oversight:

  • Oversee the management of dissection halls, anatomy museums, histology laboratories, and associated resources.
  • Ensure biosafety protocols, cadaver handling procedures, and ethical guidelines are strictly followed.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement of infrastructure and teaching aids.

Qualifications:

  • MBBS with MD in Anatomy (or equivalent recognized qualification).
  • Minimum 10 years of teaching experience in Anatomy, including at least 4 years as Associate Professor (as per NMC norms).
  • Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC)/Medical Council of India and respective State Medical Council.
