Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Neurosurgeon to join our surgical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the diagnosis, surgical treatment, and post-operative care of patients with diseases and disorders of the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves. The role includes both elective and emergency procedures and requires strong leadership in clinical practice, teaching, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and manage neurosurgical conditions such as brain tumors, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, congenital neurological abnormalities, vascular malformations, and degenerative spine diseases.
- Perform complex neurosurgical procedures including craniotomies, spinal surgeries, neuroendoscopy, and minimally invasive techniques.
- Provide emergency neurosurgical interventions such as for intracranial hemorrhage or spinal cord compression.
- Lead preoperative assessments, surgical planning, and postoperative care of patients.
- Collaborate with neurologists, radiologists, oncologists, anesthetists, and ICU teams to deliver holistic care.
- Supervise and mentor junior doctors, surgical trainees, and medical students.
- Participate in morbidity and mortality meetings, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated on the latest neurosurgical techniques and best practices through continued professional development.
- Contribute to research and teaching activities if in an academic or teaching hospital setting.
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and medical regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Postgraduate qualification in Neurosurgery (e.g., MCh, FRCS, American Board Certification, or equivalent).
- Full registration and license to practice as a specialist in Neurosurgery in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum [X] years of independent neurosurgical practice post-certification.
- Expertise in cranial and spinal surgery with a proven track record of excellent clinical outcomes.
- Strong decision-making, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage complex cases independently and in team settings.
