Consultant General Medicine

Job Summary:

The Consultant in General Medicine will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical care to adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. The role includes direct patient care, supervision of junior doctors, participation in clinical governance, and contributions to medical education and training.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialist diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of general medical conditions.
• Lead and manage inpatient medical wards, outpatient clinics, and emergency medical admissions.
• Supervise and support junior medical staff, including residents and interns.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing staff, allied health professionals, and other medical specialists.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and morbidity/mortality reviews.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation in patient records and reports.
• Contribute to the teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
• Engage in research and evidence-based practice where applicable.
• Participate in on-call duties as per department rota.
• Uphold high standards of professional and ethical conduct in line with regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Postgraduate qualification in Internal/General Medicine (e.g., MD, MRCP, FRCP).
• Full registration with the relevant medical licensing authority (e.g., GMC, MCI/NMC, etc.).
• Minimum 2 to 3 years of post-qualification experience in general/internal medicine.
• Proven clinical expertise in managing complex medical cases.
