Consultant Dermatologist

Job Summary:

The Consultant Dermatologist is responsible for providing expert care in the diagnosis and management of skin, hair, and nail disorders. This includes clinical consultations, minor dermatological procedures, and participation in multidisciplinary care. The role also involves training junior medical staff, contributing to service development, and ensuring the highest standards of dermatological care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of dermatological conditions, including inflammatory, autoimmune, infectious, and malignant skin disorders.
• Conduct outpatient clinics, skin screenings, and follow-up appointments.
• Perform minor surgical procedures, including skin biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and laser treatments (if available).
• Provide expert advice and collaborate with other specialties for patients with complex medical conditions.
• Supervise and support junior doctors, dermatology trainees, and other healthcare staff.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, especially for skin cancers and complex dermatology cases.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed patient records and reports.
• Engage in clinical governance, audits, continuing education, and quality improvement activities.
• Support health education and preventative dermatology efforts.
• Contribute to the development and expansion of dermatological services, including cosmetic dermatology (if applicable).

Qualifications and Experience:

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Postgraduate qualification in Dermatology (e.g., MD, DNB, MRCP with specialty training in Dermatology, or equivalent).
• Valid registration with the national medical council or relevant licensing authority.
• Fellowship or board certification in Dermatology is preferred.
• Minimum 2 to 3 years of post-specialization experience in dermatology.
• Competency in dermatologic procedures and use of dermatoscopy.
