Job Summary:
The Associate Professor of Anatomy is responsible for delivering advanced teaching and mentoring in human anatomy to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The role includes supervising academic and research activities, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting departmental leadership in maintaining academic excellence and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Responsibilities:
- Teach all subdivisions of human anatomy: gross anatomy, histology, embryology, and neuroanatomy to MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, and Allied Health students.
- Guide and mentor Assistant Professors, demonstrators, and students in classroom and dissection hall teaching.
- Plan and execute academic schedules, practical sessions, internal assessments, and viva voce.
- Coordinate student performance evaluations and exam preparations as per university and NMC guidelines.
- Participate in curriculum development and academic audits.
Research & Scholarly Activities:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research projects in anatomy and related fields.
- Supervise student research and PG dissertation work (if applicable).
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed, indexed journals.
- Present at national/international conferences and actively engage in continuing medical education (CME).
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head of Department in academic planning, departmental documentation, and inspections (e.g., NMC, NAAC).
- Maintain academic and administrative records of lectures, attendance, and assessments.
- Organize departmental academic events like anatomy quizzes, workshops, and seminars.
- Serve on institutional committees and contribute to faculty development initiatives.
Laboratory and Facility Oversight:
- Oversee dissection hall, anatomy museum, and histology lab operations.
- Ensure biosafety standards, cadaver handling protocols, and histology slide preparation are followed.
- Support the procurement and proper maintenance of cadavers and lab equipment.
Qualifications:
- Educational: MBBS with MD in Anatomy (or equivalent qualification as recognized by NMC).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in Anatomy after obtaining MD, including at least 4 years as Assistant Professor (as per NMC norms).
- Registration: Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC)/Medical Council of India and relevant State Medical Council.
