Job Summary:
The Associate Professor of Urology is a senior academic position that involves providing high-level clinical care, delivering medical education, mentoring residents and fellows, conducting impactful research, and contributing to the overall development of the urology department. This position requires expertise in urological surgery, teaching experience, and a strong research background. The individual will contribute to advancing the clinical, educational, and research objectives of the department and institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care:
- Provide specialized urological care, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for patients with a wide range of urological conditions.
- Perform advanced urological surgeries (including minimally invasive and robotic surgeries), supervise junior faculty and residents during surgeries.
- Oversee preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative management for patients undergoing urological procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.
- Lead complex cases and contribute to high-level decision-making in urological treatment protocols.
- Teaching and Education:
- Deliver lectures, seminars, and hands-on training to medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Develop, implement, and assess the curriculum for the urology program, ensuring it meets the needs of students and aligns with the latest advancements in urology.
- Mentor and guide medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical and surgical skills, research, and career development.
- Supervise and evaluate residents’ progress, ensuring they meet academic and clinical competencies.
- Participate in departmental and institutional teaching activities, including exams, assessments, and continuing medical education (CME).
- Research:
- Lead and participate in high-quality, innovative research in urology and related disciplines, contributing to the academic reputation of the department.
- Secure external funding for research projects and foster collaborations within and outside the institution.
- Supervise and support residents, fellows, and junior faculty in their research activities.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
- Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and advancements in urological medicine.
- Leadership and Departmental Development:
- Provide leadership in shaping departmental policies, procedures, and strategies to enhance educational, clinical, and research outcomes.
- Serve on institutional committees related to curriculum development, patient care, or research.
- Contribute to departmental accreditation and quality assurance processes.
- Foster a collaborative academic environment and support a culture of continuous improvement within the department.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including attending national and international urology conferences, workshops, and symposia.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new urological techniques, research developments, and evidence-based practices.
- Actively participate in national and international urology associations.
Required Qualifications:
- Educational Qualifications:
- MBBS + MCh/DNB in Urology
- MCh/DNB in Urology (or equivalent qualification) from a recognized institution.
- Experience:
- At least 5-7 years of clinical experience in urology after obtaining MCh/DNB in Urology, with at least 3 years of experience as a faculty member in an academic institution.
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and guide students and residents.
- Strong research experience, with publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and a proven track record of obtaining research grants.
