Associate Professor Pharmacology

Job Summary:

The Associate Professor of Pharmacology is responsible for teaching, mentoring, research, and contributing to the academic development of the department. The role involves delivering lectures, supervising practical and research work, guiding junior faculty, and supporting institutional and departmental goals.


Key Responsibilities:

Academic Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate (MBBS, BDS, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences) and postgraduate (MD Pharmacology) students.
  • Conduct practical demonstrations, tutorials, and assessments.
  • Prepare and update teaching materials in alignment with the prescribed curriculum.
  • Evaluate student progress through written exams, viva, and internal assessments.
  • Participate in curriculum planning, question paper setting, and examination duties.

Research & Scholarly Activities:

  • Conduct and supervise research in experimental, clinical, or basic pharmacology.
  • Guide postgraduate students and junior faculty in research methodology and thesis work.
  • Publish research articles in indexed national and international journals.
  • Participate in research projects, clinical trials, or pharmacovigilance programs.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Professor and HOD in departmental planning, scheduling, and operations.
  • Coordinate academic programs, CME events, and training workshops.
  • Participate in faculty appraisal, academic audits, and quality assurance processes.
  • Serve on departmental or institutional committees (e.g., Ethics, Research, Curriculum).

Applied Pharmacology & Collaboration (if applicable):

  • Contribute to drug information services, adverse drug reaction (ADR) monitoring, and pharmacovigilance.
  • Collaborate with clinical departments for drug policy development and hospital formulary.
  • Support training programs on rational drug use and therapeutic decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • MBBS with MD in Pharmacology or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in Pharmacology after obtaining post-graduate qualification, including at least 4 years as Assistant Professor (as per NMC norms).
  • Registered with the National Medical Commission (NMC) / Medical Council of India and respective State Medical Council.
