Associate Professor Pediatrician

Job Summary:

The Associate Professor in Pediatrics will be responsible for delivering quality medical education, providing comprehensive pediatric care, conducting clinical and academic research, and mentoring students and junior faculty. The role requires a combination of teaching expertise, clinical acumen, and academic leadership to support the goals of the Department of Pediatrics.


Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Academics:

  • Teach undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD Pediatrics) students as per the curriculum.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, bedside clinics, tutorials, and skill-based sessions.
  • Guide postgraduate students in dissertation work and research methodology.
  • Conduct internal assessments, prepare question papers, and participate in university exams.
  • Participate in academic audits, curriculum development, and innovations in teaching-learning methodologies.

Clinical Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pediatric care, including neonatal care, emergency care, and pediatric procedures.
  • Supervise residents, interns, and medical officers in clinical settings.
  • Participate in pediatric rounds, NICU/PICU care, and patient counseling.
  • Ensure ethical, evidence-based, and compassionate care delivery.
  • Attend on-call duties and handle pediatric emergencies as per departmental roster.

Research & Publications:

  • Undertake independent and collaborative clinical research in pediatrics.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed indexed journals (as per NMC norms).
  • Encourage and mentor PG students and junior faculty in research and publishing.
  • Apply for grants or support institutional research activities.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Department in administrative functions and department planning.
  • Participate in institutional committees, accreditation processes (e.g., NMC, NABH), and quality improvement programs.
  • Organize and participate in CMEs, workshops, conferences, and public health awareness campaigns.

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualifications:

  • MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
  • MD (Pediatrics) from a recognized university/institute.
  • Valid registration with the State Medical Council / NMC.

Experience (as per NMC norms):

  • Minimum 4 years of teaching experience as Assistant Professor in the subject.
  • Should have at least two publications in indexed journals as first/corresponding author during tenure as Assistant Professor.
