Associate Professor Microbiology

Position Summary:

The Associate Professor of Microbiology will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting impactful research, and contributing to the academic and administrative functions of the department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in microbiology with demonstrated excellence in both research and education, particularly in areas such as bacteriology, virology, immunology, or clinical microbiology.


Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in microbiology and related subjects.
  • Develop course materials, practicals, and lab exercises.
  • Supervise undergraduate, master’s, and PhD student research projects.
  • Participate in curriculum development and academic planning.

Research:

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in microbiology.
  • Publish regularly in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
  • Apply for and manage external and internal research grants.
  • Collaborate with national/international institutions on joint research initiatives.

Service and Administration:

  • Serve on academic and administrative committees at department and university level.
  • Participate in student advising, mentoring, and academic assessments.
  • Support departmental initiatives, outreach activities, and quality assurance processes.
  • Mentor junior faculty and contribute to faculty development.

Qualifications:

  • Education: PhD in Microbiology or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of teaching and research experience at the university level, with evidence of increasing responsibility.
  • Publications: Strong record of publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
  • Research Grants: Experience in securing research funding is desirable.
  • Certifications (if applicable): Medical microbiology specialization or certification (for medical colleges).
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
    • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and research.
