Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Associate Professor of Microbiology to join our faculty. The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching, research, and academic development within the Department of Microbiology. This role involves leading research projects, mentoring students, publishing scholarly work, and delivering lectures and laboratory instruction at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching:
- Deliver high-quality lectures and laboratory sessions in microbiology and related subjects.
- Develop course materials, syllabi, and assessments in accordance with the curriculum.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research and projects.
- Incorporate modern teaching techniques, including blended and online learning.
Research:
- Conduct original research in the field of microbiology.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national/international conferences.
- Collaborate with academic and industry partners for interdisciplinary research.
- Seek external funding through grants and sponsorships.
Academic Service & Administration:
- Participate in departmental meetings and curriculum development.
- Contribute to quality assurance and accreditation processes.
- Serve on academic committees, student advisory boards, and examination panels.
- Mentor junior faculty and contribute to faculty development.
Community Engagement (if applicable):
- Promote microbiology awareness and public understanding through outreach activities.
- Support initiatives that engage with healthcare, environmental, agricultural, or industrial microbiology applications.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Ph.D. in Microbiology or closely related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of teaching/research experience, including experience as an Assistant Professor or equivalent.
- Strong record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Proven ability to supervise postgraduate research students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
