Associate Professor General Medicine

Position Summary:

The Associate Professor of General Medicine will play a pivotal role in the academic and clinical missions of the Department of Medicine. The incumbent will be responsible for teaching, research, and clinical practice in the field of General Medicine, contributing to the department’s commitment to excellence in education, patient care, and research.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching:
   • Deliver high-quality instruction in General Medicine to medical students, residents, and fellows.
   • Develop and update curriculum materials, course content, and assessment methods to ensure they reflect current knowledge and practice standards in General Medicine.
   • Supervise and mentor medical students, residents, and junior faculty members.
   • Participate in the design and delivery of continuing medical education (CME) programs.
2. Clinical Practice:
   • Provide expert clinical care in General Medicine, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of medical conditions.
   • Participate in patient care activities in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
   • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to patients.
   • Maintain up-to-date medical records and ensure compliance with clinical guidelines and standards.
3. Research:
   • Conduct original research in the field of General Medicine, contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge.
   • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
   • Seek external funding for research projects through grants and other sources.
   • Supervise and mentor graduate students and junior researchers in their research activities.
4. Administrative Duties:
   • Participate in departmental and institutional committees as assigned.
   • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the Department of Medicine.
   • Assist in the recruitment, retention, and development of faculty and staff.
   • Engage in outreach activities that enhance the visibility and impact of the department and institution.
5. Professional Development:
   • Stay current with developments in the field of General Medicine through continuous learning and professional development.
   • Engage in professional activities, including attending conferences, workshops, and seminars.
   • Collaborate with colleagues both within and outside the institution to foster academic and clinical excellence.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • MD or equivalent degree in Medicine.
  • Board certification in General Medicine.
  • Additional postgraduate training or fellowship in a relevant subspecialty is desirable.
