Associate Professor Forensic Medicine

Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching and Education:

    • Design, develop, and deliver engaging course materials, lectures, and practical sessions that align with current forensic science and medical standards.
    • Mentor and supervise graduate students, including guiding them in research projects, clinical practice, and professional development.
    • Contribute to curriculum development and academic program enhancement in forensic medicine.
    • Evaluate and assess student performance, ensuring a high level of academic rigor and integrity.
  2. Research and Scholarly Activity:
    • Lead and conduct cutting-edge research in forensic medicine and related fields with an emphasis on contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the discipline.
    • Publish research in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
    • Seek external funding through grants and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for large-scale research projects.
    • Supervise and support faculty, graduate students, and research staff in their scholarly work.
  3. Clinical and Forensic Service:
    • Provide expert consultations in forensic medicine, including autopsies, death investigations, and medical evaluations in legal cases.
    • Engage with local authorities, law enforcement, and healthcare organizations on forensic matters and contribute expert testimony in court when necessary.
    • Participate in the development of regional or national forensic services and policies.
  4. Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Assume leadership roles within the department, contributing to the development of the department’s goals, strategic initiatives, and growth.
    • Participate in the recruitment, training, and development of junior faculty members and staff.
    • Represent the department in academic, clinical, and professional settings, both internally and externally.
    • Serve on departmental and institutional committees and contribute to the governance of academic and clinical practices.
    • Participate in accreditation and quality assurance processes for the department’s academic programs.
  5. Professional and Community Engagement:
    • Maintain active participation in professional organizations and societies related to forensic medicine and forensic science.
    • Foster relationships with external partners, including law enforcement, healthcare providers, and the legal system, to advance the field.
    • Provide expert advice to governmental and non-governmental bodies on forensic medicine-related issues.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Stay current with advancements in forensic medicine, forensic science, medical jurisprudence, and related fields.
    • Engage in professional development opportunities, including workshops, seminars, and research collaborations.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • MBBS + MS/MD
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 5-7 years of teaching experience in forensic medicine or a related field at the university level, with a strong record of teaching effectiveness.
    • Significant experience in forensic practice, including performing autopsies, toxicology, and other forensic assessments.
    • A strong, established research portfolio with a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
    • Proven experience in securing external funding and managing research projects.
