Position Overview:

The Associate Professor in Community Medicine is responsible for assisting in the planning, execution, and evaluation of community health programs, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, and conducting research in public health. The role includes managing healthcare services in urban and rural health centers, providing preventive and promotive healthcare services, and supporting the department’s academic and outreach activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical and Public Health Services:
    • Manage healthcare services at urban and rural health centers under the supervision of senior faculty.
    • Conduct health screenings, immunization drives, and health education programs.
    • Provide preventive, promotive, and curative healthcare to the community.
    • Participate in the surveillance of communicable and non-communicable diseases, ensuring timely reporting and management.
    • Collaborate with local healthcare agencies and governmental bodies to improve public health outcomes.
  2. Teaching and Training:
    • Assist in teaching undergraduate medical students in topics related to community medicine, epidemiology, and public health.
    • Guide junior residents and interns in clinical and community health activities.
    • Supervise students during field visits, health camps, and community health projects.
    • Prepare teaching materials, case studies, and presentations for educational sessions.
    • Participate in conducting workshops, seminars, and continuing medical education (CME) sessions.
  3. Research and Data Analysis:
    • Conduct research on public health issues such as epidemiology, health policies, and preventive medicine.
    • Collect, analyze, and interpret public health data for research publications and reports.
    • Participate in research projects focused on improving community health services and interventions.
    • Write and publish papers in national and international journals, contributing to the academic growth of the department.
    • Assist in preparing research proposals and obtaining funding for public health initiatives.
  4. Health Program Implementation and Evaluation:
    • Plan and implement public health interventions and programs in collaboration with the health department and other agencies.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community health programs, suggesting improvements and interventions as needed.
    • Lead campaigns for public health awareness on topics such as nutrition, sanitation, maternal and child health, and disease prevention.
    • Provide technical support for governmental and non-governmental health initiatives.
  5. Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Assist in maintaining records and reports for various public health programs.
    • Coordinate with different departments and external agencies for interdisciplinary projects.
    • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of policies and protocols.
    • Supervise and ensure proper documentation of patient records and health center activities.
  6. Outreach and Community Engagement:
    • Participate in outreach programs to educate the community on public health issues.
    • Collaborate with local NGOs and community leaders to improve healthcare access and delivery.
    • Develop educational material on health promotion for dissemination in the community.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements:
    • MBBS with a postgraduate degree (MD/DNB) in Community Medicine or Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1-3 years of residency experience in community medicine or related fields.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of public health concepts, epidemiology, biostatistics, and health program management.
    • Proficiency in conducting field surveys and community-based research.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with students, healthcare professionals, and community members.
    • Ability to work independently and manage public health programs efficiently.
    • Research and data analysis skills, with proficiency in software like SPSS, R, or similar statistical tools.
