Job Summary:
The Associate Professor in Anesthesia will provide academic leadership in the teaching, research, and clinical practice of anesthesiology. The role involves delivering high-quality medical education to undergraduate and postgraduate students, conducting impactful research, and supervising clinical training in anesthesiology. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, ethical practice, and collaborative leadership within a medical education and healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Education:
- Deliver lectures, seminars, and clinical instruction in anesthesiology to medical students and residents.
- Develop and update course materials, curriculum, and assessments in line with current standards and innovations in anesthesiology.
- Supervise and mentor students, interns, and residents in clinical practice and academic research.
- Participate in academic advising and student evaluation.
Research & Scholarly Activity:
- Conduct original research in anesthesiology or related fields and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Secure research funding through grants and collaborations.
- Present findings at national and international conferences.
- Supervise postgraduate thesis and research projects.
Clinical Duties:
- Provide expert clinical anesthesia services across a range of surgical specialties.
- Participate in on-call rotations, if required.
- Ensure best practices in patient safety and perioperative care.
- Support the implementation of clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
Administrative & Leadership Roles:
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum committees, and accreditation activities.
- Contribute to faculty development programs and interdepartmental collaborations.
- Mentor junior faculty and contribute to departmental strategic planning.
- Uphold academic and professional integrity.
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements:
- MD, MBBS with specialization (MD/DNB) in Anesthesiology from a recognized institution.
- Additional academic qualifications (PhD or equivalent) are preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5–7 years of teaching and clinical experience post-specialization, with at least 3 years at Assistant Professor level (may vary based on regional norms).
- Evidence of scholarly publications and ongoing research activity.
- Licensure:
- Valid medical license and registration with the appropriate medical council (e.g., MCI/NMC in India, or equivalent regulatory body).
