Associate Professor Ophthalmology

Job Summary:

The Associate Professor of Ophthalmology will be integral to the education, clinical care, and research missions of the Department of Ophthalmology. This role includes teaching medical students and residents, delivering comprehensive patient care, and advancing knowledge through research.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teaching and Education:
  • Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical training sessions for medical students, residents, and fellows in ophthalmology.
  • Mentor and supervise residents and medical students in clinical rotations and research projects.
  • Develop and enhance educational curricula to maintain high standards in ophthalmic training.
• Clinical Practice:
  • Provide comprehensive ophthalmic care, including diagnosis and management of various ocular conditions and diseases.
  • Perform surgical procedures as necessary and oversee postoperative care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient management and optimal outcomes.
• Research:
  • Engage in and lead research initiatives focused on clinical and translational ophthalmology.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • Seek external funding and grants to support research projects and initiatives.
• Service and Leadership:
  • Participate in departmental committees and contribute to strategic planning and development efforts.
  • Engage in community outreach and educational initiatives related to eye health.
  • Foster collaborations with other departments and institutions to enhance interdisciplinary research and clinical care.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Medical degree (MBBS + MS/MD) with completion of a residency in ophthalmology.
  • Fellowship training in a subspecialty of ophthalmology is preferred.
