Associate Professor General Surgery

Job Summary:

The Associate Professor of General Surgery will play a vital role in education, clinical practice, and research within the Department of General Surgery. This position involves teaching medical students and residents, providing expert surgical care, and engaging in innovative research to advance the field.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teaching and Education:
  • Deliver lectures, seminars, and hands-on training in general surgery to medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Mentor and supervise residents and medical students in clinical settings and research projects.
  • Develop and assess educational curricula to enhance the training experience in general surgery.
• Clinical Practice:
  • Provide high-quality surgical care, including the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of surgical conditions.
  • Perform surgical procedures and oversee postoperative care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient management and optimal clinical outcomes.
• Research:
  • Engage in and lead research initiatives focused on general surgery, including clinical outcomes, surgical techniques, and innovations in patient care.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • Seek external funding and grants to support research activities and initiatives.
• Service and Leadership:
  • Participate in departmental committees and contribute to strategic planning and program development.
  • Engage in community outreach and education on surgical health topics.
  • Foster collaborations with other departments and institutions to enhance interdisciplinary research and clinical care.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Medical degree (MBBS + MS/MD) with completion of a residency in general surgery.
  • Fellowship training in a subspecialty of general surgery is preferred.
