Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor of Physiology is responsible for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, participating in academic development, conducting research, and assisting in departmental administrative tasks. The position plays a key role in laying the foundational understanding of human physiology for MBBS and other allied health students.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Responsibilities:
- Deliver lectures, conduct practicals, tutorials, and small group discussions in human physiology to MBBS, BDS, Nursing, and Allied Health Science students.
- Prepare teaching material, session plans, and evaluation tools as per the prescribed curriculum.
- Assess student performance through internal assessments, practical exams, and viva voce.
- Assist in preparing question papers and participate in examination duties as assigned.
- Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement activities.
Research & Scholarly Work:
- Undertake individual or collaborative research in areas of physiology or medical education.
- Present findings in national/international conferences and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals.
- Assist students in research methodology and academic writing (where applicable).
Laboratory & Practical Oversight:
- Supervise and maintain physiology laboratory sessions including hematology, clinical physiology, and experimental setups.
- Ensure proper handling and maintenance of lab instruments and teaching aids.
- Support digitization of lab records and development of innovative practical teaching methods.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain academic records, attendance logs, and departmental reports.
- Participate in departmental meetings, academic committees, and institutional development initiatives.
- Assist in preparing the department for NMC inspections, NAAC, and other accreditation processes.
Qualifications:
- Educational: MBBS with MD in Physiology (or equivalent qualification recognized by NMC).
- Experience: Fresh MD Physiology graduates or those with up to 4 years of teaching experience post-MD are eligible (as per NMC norms).
- Registration: Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) and State Medical Council (if applicable).
