Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor in Pharmacology is responsible for imparting high-quality education to undergraduate and postgraduate students, supporting research initiatives, and assisting in the academic and administrative activities of the department. The role serves as a foundation for academic leadership and research excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Responsibilities:
- Teach pharmacology to undergraduate (MBBS, BDS, Nursing, Allied Health) and postgraduate students under the supervision of senior faculty.
- Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, and internal assessments.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and evaluation tools.
- Assist in organizing academic events such as seminars, quizzes, journal clubs, and CMEs.
- Participate in university examinations, paper setting, and invigilation duties.
Research & Development:
- Undertake independent or collaborative research in basic, clinical, or experimental pharmacology.
- Contribute to publications in indexed journals and support departmental research projects.
- Assist postgraduate students and interns in academic research and data collection.
- Participate in pharmacovigilance, drug utilization studies, or clinical trials (if applicable).
Administrative Support:
- Help in maintaining departmental records, inventories, and laboratory management.
- Support faculty in academic audits, inspections (e.g., NMC, NAAC), and documentation.
- Engage in student mentoring, career guidance, and co-curricular activities.
- Take part in institutional committees as assigned.
Clinical / Applied Pharmacology (if applicable):
- Participate in therapeutic committee discussions, ADR monitoring, or hospital formulary reviews.
- Support rational drug use programs and pharmacology-related hospital services.
Qualifications:
- MBBS with MD in Pharmacology from a recognized institution (or equivalent qualification as per NMC norms).
- Fresh postgraduates or up to 4 years of post-MD teaching experience may apply.
- Must be registered with the National Medical Commission (NMC)/Medical Council of India and respective State Medical Council.
