Job Summary:

The Assistant Professor of Nephrology will play a dual role in providing high-quality patient care in nephrology and engaging in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. The role involves clinical service delivery, academic teaching, research, and active participation in departmental and institutional development activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of kidney-related diseases including acute and chronic kidney diseases, glomerular disorders, electrolyte imbalances, and hypertension.
  • Provide expertise in dialysis (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) and management of renal transplant patients.
  • Participate in inpatient care, nephrology consultations, outpatient clinics, and dialysis unit oversight.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, dialysis technicians, dietitians, and transplant coordinators.

Academic Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD/DNB) medical students and residents.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, clinical case discussions, seminars, and bedside teaching.
  • Supervise and assess student research projects, dissertations, and clinical rotations.
  • Participate in curriculum development and academic planning.

Research & Scholarly Activities:

  • Conduct or support clinical research in nephrology.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.
  • Guide PG students in their thesis and research projects.

Administrative & Other Duties:

  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality assurance programs, and hospital committees.
  • Support accreditation processes and compliance with institutional and medical council standards.
  • Mentor junior faculty and contribute to the academic growth of the department.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:
    • MBBS with MD (General Medicine/Internal Medicine) and DM/DNB (Nephrology) from an MCI/NMC recognized institute.
    • Valid registration with the Medical Council of [India / respective country or state].
    • Minimum 1 year of experience (post-DM/DNB) in teaching or clinical practice in nephrology (as per regulatory requirements).
