Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor in Anatomy is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students, supporting departmental academic and research activities, and contributing to the development of the medical education curriculum. The role also involves helping in the maintenance of laboratories, museums, and cadaveric dissection facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Responsibilities:
- Teach gross anatomy, histology, embryology, neuroanatomy, and related subfields to undergraduate students (MBBS, BDS, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences).
- Conduct lectures, practicals, tutorials, and dissection hall sessions.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, and assessment tools in alignment with the curriculum.
- Evaluate student performance through theory and practical examinations.
- Participate in academic planning, curriculum development, and university exam duties.
Laboratory and Museum Management:
- Oversee and support maintenance of the dissection hall, cadaver procurement, histology lab, and anatomy museum.
- Ensure adherence to bio-safety, cadaver handling, and disposal protocols.
- Guide students in cadaveric dissection and preparation of histological slides.
Research & Scholarly Activities:
- Conduct or assist in anatomical or interdisciplinary research projects.
- Publish academic papers in indexed journals and present in conferences.
- Guide students and junior colleagues in basic research methodology.
Administrative and Departmental Duties:
- Assist the HOD and senior faculty in organizing departmental activities, internal assessments, and academic records.
- Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum workshops, and inspections (e.g., NMC/NAAC).
- Engage in institutional committees and extracurricular academic initiatives.
Qualifications:
- MBBS with MD in Anatomy or equivalent postgraduate qualification from an NMC-recognized institution.
- Fresh MD graduates or those with up to 4 years of teaching experience post-MD may apply.
- Must be registered with the National Medical Commission (NMC)/Medical Council of India and respective State Medical Council.
