Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor in Anatomy is an academic role responsible for teaching anatomy to medical, dental, and other health science students, conducting research in anatomical sciences, and contributing to the academic and clinical excellence of the institution. The individual will develop and deliver lectures, supervise laboratory sessions, engage in scholarly research, and support the department in curricular and administrative activities. The Assistant Professor will work collaboratively with faculty and students to advance the understanding of human anatomy and contribute to the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching and Education:
- Deliver lectures, practical classes, and tutorials in anatomy to medical, dental, nursing, and allied health science students.
- Develop and update anatomy course materials, including lectures, practical sessions, online resources, and assessments, ensuring they align with the curriculum and best practices.
- Supervise and guide students in dissection labs, cadaver-based teaching, and other practical learning activities related to anatomy.
- Assess and evaluate students’ academic performance through exams, quizzes, assignments, and practical assessments.
- Provide academic support to students, including guidance on anatomy-related questions and fostering critical thinking in anatomical studies.
- Research and Scholarly Activities:
- Engage in research in the field of anatomy, with a focus on basic anatomical science, medical education, or clinical applications of anatomy.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, present at national and international conferences, and contribute to the advancement of anatomical knowledge.
- Supervise and mentor students (undergraduate and postgraduate) in research projects, helping them develop their academic and research skills.
- Collaborate with other faculty members and interdisciplinary teams on research projects related to anatomy, medical education, or clinical anatomy.
- Curriculum Development and Improvement:
- Actively participate in the development, review, and improvement of the anatomy curriculum to ensure it is relevant, up-to-date, and in line with current educational standards and best practices.
- Integrate innovative teaching methods, including digital technologies, virtual dissection tools, and simulation, into anatomy instruction.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of courses related to clinical anatomy, functional anatomy, and specialized anatomy subjects for advanced students or postgraduate learners.
- Departmental and Administrative Responsibilities:
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and academic activities to contribute to the overall development of the Anatomy department and the institution.
- Assist in the planning and execution of departmental initiatives, such as faculty development, workshops, and outreach programs.
- Support the administration of the department, including student advising, scheduling, and inventory management for anatomical teaching resources.
- Assist in ensuring that the department complies with accreditation and regulatory requirements for anatomical education and research.
- Student Mentorship and Support:
- Serve as an academic mentor and advisor for students, providing guidance on academic progress, research projects, and career development in anatomy or related fields.
- Encourage a positive and interactive learning environment that fosters curiosity and engagement among students.
- Address students’ academic concerns and assist them in overcoming any challenges related to anatomy courses or assessments.
Required Qualifications:
- Educational Qualifications:
- MBBS + MS/MD
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience in anatomy at an undergraduate or postgraduate level.
- Experience in conducting research in anatomy or a related field, with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Familiarity with modern teaching methods and technologies, such as digital anatomy platforms, virtual dissection, and multimedia-based learning.
