Assistant Professor Anatomy

Job Summary: The Assistant Professor of Anatomy will be responsible for teaching, research, and administrative duties related to the study of human anatomy. The role involves delivering lectures, conducting laboratory sessions, guiding students in their academic development, and participating in research activities to contribute to the growth of the department and institution.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching & Instruction:
   • Deliver high-quality lectures and tutorials in human anatomy, including gross anatomy, histology, embryology, and neuroanatomy to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
   • Conduct laboratory sessions and practicals, including cadaver dissections, histological slide preparations, and virtual anatomy demonstrations.
   • Supervise and mentor students during practical sessions, ensuring that students gain comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience.
   • Assist in curriculum development and update teaching materials to reflect advancements in the field of anatomy.
   • Evaluate student performance through written exams, practical exams, quizzes, and projects, providing constructive feedback for academic improvement.
   • Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students, addressing any academic or professional challenges they may face.
2. Research & Scholarly Activities:
   • Engage in independent research in areas related to human anatomy, including anatomical education, clinical anatomy, or related fields.
   • Publish research findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and contribute to advancing knowledge in the field of anatomy.
   • Apply for and manage research grants and funding opportunities.
   • Collaborate with colleagues and interdisciplinary teams to foster research initiatives within the department and institution.
   • Supervise and guide undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, fostering a research-oriented environment.
3. Clinical & Practical Training:
   • Support clinical anatomy teaching by assisting clinical departments with practical, case-based teaching methods that integrate anatomy into clinical settings.
   • Participate in interdisciplinary teaching activities in collaboration with other departments, particularly in clinical courses or medical skills labs.
   • Develop and implement teaching strategies for clinical, radiological, and surgical anatomy.
4. Departmental and Administrative Responsibilities:
   • Contribute to the overall administration and operation of the Anatomy Department.
   • Participate in departmental meetings, planning, and development of teaching strategies.
   • Assist in the preparation of course syllabi, exam schedules, and academic reports.
   • Help in the maintenance and proper utilization of anatomical laboratories, equipment, and cadaver specimens.
   • Participate in faculty development activities, including workshops, seminars, and conferences to improve teaching and research skills.
5. Professional Engagement & Service:
   • Stay updated with the latest research, trends, and advancements in the field of anatomy.
   • Participate in academic conferences, workshops, and seminars, and contribute to the academic community.
   • Join professional organizations related to anatomy and education, staying actively engaged in relevant academic discussions.
   • Contribute to the department’s reputation by providing leadership in academic forums and professional settings.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education:
  • M.D., M.S., or Ph.D. in Anatomy or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Medical degree (M.B.B.S.) with specialization in anatomy is a plus.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience in anatomy or related field at a university or medical school level.
